Devious Journal Entry

My art has taken a backseat, or maybe evolution to my life. I have been making some crazy instructional Japanese videos on YouTube, which are artsy, I suppose.

Art is mostly for people with no children.

I'm going to Disney World next year, so that's good.

Publication of my Bitchy Article!

Thu Feb 16, 2006, 3:57 PM
Recently my daughter was playing Tony Hawk's American Wasteland ( with the sound turned down so she didn't hear any of the naughty tunes!) and she couldn't help but be impacted by the fact that there were no girls to skate with. Her gigantic eyes glassed up and she looked at me and said: "Doesn't Tony Hawk think girls want to skate, too?". Upon further research, it turns out that the game has nearly nixed girls altogether. After emailing Tony and some other people around town, the letter was published at About.com.

Here is my open letter to Tony Hawk at About.com:

Tell me what you think. I can understand contract difficulties with women skaters and the like, but man, they could make up a character if it comes down to it. As the letter in the link about will state, girls make up at least 26 percent of skaters out there, and partake in all of the big competitions. Again, there are 5 boys to choose from in Story mode, no girls. There are no boys that you can make in the Create-A-Skater mode, either.

Anyway, my little girl is anxiously awaiting the next time we rent the game. Until then, we're surfing the web for profiles of girl skaters.

The design is 'Octopussy', which is something of a real phenomenon here in Ohio. It's an 8 legged Cat in a jar that is loved by thousands. Yes, strange.
